KLAS K-12 EDUCATION PROJECT

KLAS Eduction Project

Kosciusko Lakes and Streams and Grace College are committed to teaching young people about environmental stewardship. Through our K-12 education program, we hope to reach the youth of Kosciusko County with the message of stewardship and to equip them with the tools to become active caretakers of the natural world. To kick off our education program in 2012-2013, we are working with classrooms in Kosciusko County by providing lesson plans, in-class presentations, technical support, and field trips to lakes and streams near their schools.

Students will learn about lake and stream ecology and spend time doing hands-on research with high-tech scientific instruments. In addition, Grace College is equipping student teachers to provide water quality stewardship lessons as part of their science curriculum during their student teaching experience, which will culminate in a field experience facilitated by KLAS and the student teacher. We believe in not only educating the youth of Kosciusko County about stewardship of our natural resources, but also in equipping our future educators to provide the highest quality science education.

**Enter your students in the Wonderful Water Student Art Contest and win up to $50! Download the contest flyer and entry form for more information. Entries are due by April 12, 2013.**
